Position Title: Senior Manager, eCommerce, Japan

Location: Tokyo, Japan

Reports To: Senior Director, eCommerce

Job Summary:

Lead E-Commerce team in Japan to support digital marketing initiatives across all local Divisions and to provide E-Commerce expertise on search optimization strategies, digital marketing recommendations, and go-to-market strategies for new E-commerce customers. Responsible for E-Commerce digital marketing initiatives in partnership with Division counterparts to facilitate sustainable growth grounded in Division channel strategies and consumer, product, and market understanding. Accountable for reporting results, data visibility, and incorporating insights into digital marketing strategies and recommendations to Divisions. Accountable for partnering closely with Division counterparts and developing innovation and core product strategies to improve business plans across all categories. Different Division businesses require different levels of engagement, so candidate will need to have varying levels of account management responsibility depending on the Division.

Job Duties:

  • Digital Marketing: Provide E-Commerce expertise in planning and executing digital marketing initiatives including but not limited to search, display, influencer activation, sampling, email, and CRM. Assist in marketing efforts associated with launch ramp up process for innovation and to accelerate the core. Serve as subject matter expert in monitoring performance of marketing investments and gauging efficacy of spend. Manage E-Commerce investment strategy grounded in Division priorities and key focus areas. Provide reporting, tracking, and market share visibility across categories. Establish / build local competency across Divisions to enhance capabilities of the organization.
  • Business Planning: Influence and assist in annual sales planning process with internal/external partners to build detailed plans that drive growth and ROI. Provide guidance on plan improvements refresh plans based on actuals, feedback, and learnings. Provide guidance on "plus up" investment and return opportunities throughout the year. Report plans, progress, and projected estimates on a monthly cadence to E-Commerce leadership thereby providing visibility to opportunities/risks in the annual plan.
  • Reporting/Optimization: Analyze consumer insights and performance data to provide recommendations to Division partners on pricing, promotional, and A&P strategies. Derive support strategy recommendations based on concrete learnings and understanding of ROI. Share best practices for analyzing data and for connecting investments with annual sales and profit targets.
  • Activation & Promotional Support: Focus on data-supported periods (ex: key holidays) and provide recommendations to Divisions for efficiently growing and winning market share leveraging activation and promotions. Share competitive insights and E-Commerce best practices with Divisions to guide investments towards increased ROI. In partnership with Divisions, prioritize maintaining margin and brand positioning while driving growth.
  • Partnership with & Connectivity to Divisions: Partner closely with Division counterparts to ensure cohesion, alignment with top Division priorities, and sharing of best practices for E-Commerce. Provide E-Commerce recommendations to inform Division plans and investments based on concrete insights from E-Commerce data. Implement a collaborative planning cadence and frequent touch bases with Division partners.
  • Focus on New Customers/Platforms: Support Global Business Development Team in developing Japan go-to-market plans and partnering with Divisions to launch on E-Commerce platforms. Act as local expert to advise on selection, pricing, activation, positioning, competitive landscape, negotiations, customer management, logistical setup, and more. Bring insights and prioritization into new market opportunities, and scale learnings/tools for Global use.
Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Finance, E-Commerce, or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of equivalent sales and marketing experience
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in leading a team
  • Experience in multi-national companies
  • Exceptional negotiation skills, strategic thinker
  • Fluency in written and spoken English & Japanese is mandatory
  • Considerable experience in digital marketing activities
  • Extremely strong presentation and communication skills
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with P&L management
  • Experience working with E-commerce platforms and customers
  • Knowledge of and experience working in relevant categories: Office, Baby Gear/Care, Outdoor, Home & Appliances, etc.
